My own set eliminates all flicker, doubles all lines to remove aliasing and also doubles the frame rate of all video sources (aside from 60hz material). Now that's awesome.

What TV set might that be ??? (brand/model) ??????

It's a Philips. They make some 4:3's and 16:9 units with those functions (although some are discontinued, there is still stock about).

I agree that your Panny looks awesome with games in progressive scan through component and through the VGA box, but you have to admit that Halo looked crap through the Philips set. I could've driven a bus between the scan-lines and that was connected via RGB wasn't it? Looked more like RF to me.

I hate scan-lines, that's why I love the internal line doubler in my set, it completely eliminates scan-lines and makes any decent source look like a VGA picture.

The Philips set features a line doubler and it eliminates flicker.
The only way to elimimate scan lines is to display a progressive scan image.

Just a quick update for you Monkey and anyone else interested, while this thread has been revived back to the front page.

I have a new machine on the way to me now. I expect to receive it this week. I also have a case manager and a complaint number with the office of fair trading.

I will let you know the result.

Sorry, I stand corrected, my TV actually quadruples the vertical and horizontal density of the picture.

It's not a progressive scan image, yet there's not a single scan-line anywhere.

Actually I think DRC and the method the Philips use just doubles the vertical scanlines and then compresses them back into the normal TV resosolution - sort of like the way anamorphic DVD's work, or your normal 16:9 mode on the TV.
It does reduce the scanlines, but the image is still interlaced.

The light wasn't flashing so I don't think it was overheating.
Also I turned of the widescreen and set it to normal but left it at 60hz and it worked passed the movie but when I turned it back to widescreen to see if that was the problem it wouldn't work but then when i put it back to normal again it stuffed up again, so then I turned of 60hz but that didn't help either, now I have changed the power socket it is pluged into and so far it is working fine. It says in the manual that the xbox can consume up to 100 watts, so I figured it shouldn't be pluged into the same power board as the tv and vcr and well so far so good.

I hear Sonic's pretty good at Capcom Vs SNK 2 though. I know that a lot of people can't say that about themselves.
